Extracurricular Internships
Italian universities act as labor market intermediaries, working alongside public employment centers and private operators to provide employment services. Accordingly, the “G. d’Annunzio” University, through its University Placement Office, offers Companies the practical opportunity to activate training, professionalizing, and/or work-entry internships.
Extracurricular internships are designed to facilitate the career choices of young people through a training period within a productive environment, providing direct knowledge of the professional world. This type of internship is regulated by Regions and Autonomous Provinces; however, common minimum standards are defined at the national level regarding qualifying elements, the methods by which the intern performs their activities, and the
minimum allowance.
These standards are outlined in the "Guidelines on Internships." Based on the templates provided by the Abruzzo Region, activating an internship requires an
Agreement (Convenzione) between a Promoting Entity (in this case, the “G. d’Annunzio” University) and a Hosting Entity (Company, Professional Firm, Cooperative, Public Body, etc.),
accompanied by a Training Project (Progetto Formativo). A form is also available for any modifications or extensions to the training project. Upon completion of the internship, the
attendance log and the final internship certification form must also be requested.
Documents must be submitted to the University Placement Office at least 7 working days before the start of the internship. Both the promoting entity and the hosting entity will appoint a tutor, who will assist the intern in drafting the training plan, integrating into the new context, defining organizational and educational conditions, monitoring the training path, andcertifying the activities performed. The skills acquired and results achieved by the intern are recorded in a training booklet (libretto formativo). Although they do not constitute an employment relationship, internships governed by these guidelines are subject to mandatory notification (comunicazione obbligatoria) by the hosting entity.
